The Widow's Season

She gave everything to this house. The house gave it to someone else.

The scene

Calangute, a fishing village on the Goa coast before tourism arrived, August 1962. A large Portuguese bungalow belonging to the Pinto family. The matriarch, Elvira Pinto, is in the final stages of cancer, and a new will was filed three days ago that almost nobody in the house knows about yet.

The victim

Miss Clara Vaz, 41, Elvira's live-in companion and nurse for nine years, found in the garden below the back wall with a broken neck. The local sub-inspector has ruled it an accidental fall.

The suspects

Every one of them is hiding something, and their alibis form a single shared timeline. Somewhere in it, one statement cannot possibly be true. Find the contradiction and you have found the killer.

How to read this case

A dying matriarch, a will nobody outside a lawyer’s office has read yet, and a companion who fell from a wall she had walked past every single day for nine years without incident. The accidental-fall finding rests entirely on nobody in the house having a reason to want Clara gone, so your job is to establish exactly what she knew about the new will, and who else in the household already suspected she knew it, before the fall ever happened.

Why play it

The Widow’s Season is inheritance-driven domestic noir, a family circling a fortune before the woman holding it has even died, with an outsider caught in the middle of a decades-old sibling rivalry she never asked to join. It suits players who like their murder mysteries built on old money, older grudges, and a household that has spent years perfecting the art of getting along in public. If a will is the real weapon in your favourite mysteries, this case was written for you.

That is as far as any file goes without spoiling it. The rest, the confession, the weapon, the one lie that breaks the whole timeline, is yours to work out in the game.
