Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information PLAY INQUEST collects when you use the website at playinquest.com and the game at playinquest.com/play, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Anonymous device ID. When you first open the game, a random identifier is generated on your device and used to sync your game progress to our server. It is not linked to your name or email.
- Game progress. Your saves (which cases you have solved, clues found, and your settings) are stored on your device and synced to our server so you can restore them.
- Account info, only if you sign in. Signing in with Google is optional. If you use Firebase Authentication with Google, we store your email address and one detective name that you claim so your progress can sync across devices and your name can appear on the monthly leaderboard. We never see your Google password, only a token Google issues confirming you signed in.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited). This sets cookies and collects standard data such as your approximate location and device type.
- Premium payment details. If you make a one-time or recurring Premium payment, Dodo Payments collects the payment details needed for checkout. We receive the checkout email, payment or subscription reference, selected Premium option, and payment status. We do not receive or store your full card number.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies on the website to help us understand how it is used. You can manage Google privacy preferences through your Google Account settings.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We use a small number of service providers to run PLAY INQUEST:
- Google, for analytics and Sign-In.
- Cloudflare, for hosting and storage.
- Dodo Payments, for one-time and recurring Premium payments.
Data retention and security
Saves are kept for as long as needed to provide the game. Account data (email and alias) is kept for as long as your account exists, and is deleted if you ask us to close it. We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we hold, but no online service can guarantee perfect security, and we ask that you use the same judgment here that you would with any other account.
Children
PLAY INQUEST is a murder-mystery game intended for a general teen and adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13.
Your choices
- Opt out of personalized ads using the Google links above.
- Clear the game's local data from your browser or device at any time.
- Request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us (see the Contact page).
Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. The date at the top reflects the latest version.
