What it is

Every morning a fresh case lands at the top of the casebook. A new victim, a new set of suspects, new alibis that do not quite line up. You read the file, walk the scenes, catch the contradiction, and name the killer. The same PLAY INQUEST loop, in a self-contained daily hit.

How it works

The Daily Dossier sits in its own section at the top of the casebook, above the hand-crafted collection. Today's case is featured front and center with the date on it; earlier days are kept below so you can catch up on any you missed.

Every daily case is generated fresh and checked to make sure it is actually solvable before it ever reaches you, so the contradiction is always there to find. The hand-crafted casebook is still the hand-crafted casebook. Those cases are not going anywhere.

Why we built it

A murder mystery is the perfect daily ritual. Short enough to do with your coffee, sharp enough to feel clever when the alibi cracks. We wanted a reason to open PLAY INQUEST every day, and a case that is always new is the best one we could think of.

Catching up on days you missed

The Daily Dossier does not disappear once its day is over. Every past case stays reopenable in the full daily archive, so if you skip a week and come back, nothing is lost, you can work through the backlog at your own pace, or just jump straight to today's. Solve a run of consecutive days and the game tracks your streak, both your current one and your best ever, right there next to today's case.

You vs. everyone else

Once you close a daily case, the reveal screen shows you how your solve time stacked up against every other detective who cracked that same file that day, average time, how many people solved it versus how many walked away wrong. It is a small thing, but it turns a solo case into a quiet competition with everyone else who opened the same dossier that morning.

If you would rather not remember to check, you can turn on a notification in Settings that pings you the moment a new Daily Dossier lands. No spam, one alert, once a day, only when there is genuinely a new case to open.
